Why TimeLab-Design
Why choose a TimeLab-Design watch over other Casio modders?

What sets TimeLab-Design apart is the design philosophy behind every build.

The rule is simple: every modification should elevate the watch, not compromise it. The display stays legible. The changes I make — color, contrast, detail — are designed to make the watch more interesting without making it less functional. Doing otherwise isn't a mod, it's a trade-off.

If you want a modded Casio, there are options. If you want one that was actually designed — TimeLab is for you.

About the Watches
What watches do you modify?

TimeLab-Design currently works with two Casio models: the AE-1200 and the LF-20W POP. Both are chosen for their clean design, reliable movement, and the quality of their base materials. Each watch is sourced new before modification.

Are these genuine Casio watches?

Yes. Every TimeLab build starts with a brand new, genuine Casio watch sourced directly. The modifications are applied to the original case, band, and dial components. You are getting a real Casio — reimagined.

Is TimeLab-Design affiliated with Casio?

No. TimeLab-Design is an independent workshop and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Casio Computer Co., Ltd. I simply use genuine Casio watches as the foundation for my custom builds.

Are the watches still water resistant after modding?

The base Casio models are rated for water resistance and the case is reassembled carefully after modification. That said, I recommend treating your modded watch with common sense — splashes, rain, and hand washing are fine. Submersion is not recommended, as the watch is no longer sealed in a factory environment.

Do the watches come with a warranty?

Modifying a watch voids its original manufacturer warranty. Every watch is carefully inspected and tested before shipping. If your watch arrives with a defect or fault, please get in touch and I will make it right.

Ordering
How do I place a custom order?

Custom builds start at $250. Use the Custom Order form on the homepage to describe the model, colors, and any specific details you have in mind. Inspiration images are welcome.

I'll reply within 48 hours, and we'll go back and forth until we're aligned on what's possible. I'll then send a quote and timeline. No payment is taken until you approve the quote.

Once approved, I'll set up a private Etsy listing just for you, with full details in your confirmation email. Most builds go through 2–3 rounds of artwork and physical samples for your approval before the final build.

Can I send in my own watch to be modified?

No. TimeLab-Design only works with watches I source myself. This ensures the quality and condition of the base watch before any modification begins. If you have a specific model in mind that is not currently listed, reach out and we can discuss options.

How long does a custom order take?

Custom orders typically take 2–4 weeks from confirmation to shipping, depending on complexity, the number of design rounds, and current order volume. You will receive an estimated timeline when your order is confirmed. I would rather take the time to get it right than rush a build.

Can I request a modification not listed on the site?

Yes. The custom order form is open-ended for exactly this reason. Describe what you have in mind and I will let you know what is possible. Not every request will be feasible, but I will always give you an honest answer.

Shipping
Where do you ship from?

All orders are assembled and shipped from Seattle, Washington.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. International orders are processed through my Etsy store, which handles international checkout and shipping. If you are outside the US and have questions about your order, feel free to contact me directly.

How long does shipping take?

Domestic US orders typically arrive within 3–7 business days after shipping. International shipping times vary by destination — estimated delivery is provided at checkout. All orders include tracking.

How will my order be packaged?

Every watch is packed securely to protect it during transit. Ready-made watches from the collection ship in protective packaging. Custom orders include a TimeLab-Design box suitable for gifting.

Returns & Exchanges
Can I return or exchange my watch?

Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery for ready-made collection watches, provided the watch is unworn and in its original packaging. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. To start a return, contact me with your order details.

What if my watch arrives damaged?

If your watch arrives damaged or faulty, please contact me within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the packaging and the watch. I will resolve the issue promptly — either with a replacement or a full refund, depending on the situation.

Are custom orders eligible for return?

Custom orders are made specifically for you and are not eligible for return or exchange unless the watch arrives faulty or damaged.

If you change your mind during the design and test-piece rounds, you can cancel and I'll refund your payment minus a design fee covering the materials and time already used. Once the final build begins, the order can no longer be canceled — so if you have any doubts, please raise them before then.

Etsy & Payments
Why does checkout go through Etsy?

TimeLab-Design processes all transactions through Etsy, which provides a secure, trusted checkout experience with buyer protection built in. Etsy handles payment processing, receipts, and dispute resolution — giving you confidence that your purchase is protected.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards are accepted through Etsy Payments, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are also supported depending on your region.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payments are processed securely through Etsy Payments, which is PCI compliant. TimeLab-Design does not store or have access to your payment details.
